On August 4, 1970, then president of the United States, Richard Nixon, was quoted on a front-page Los Angeles Times newspaper cover from when he was speaking to reporters where he stated Manson was “guilty, directly or indirectly, of eight murders without reason.” The newspaper became significant as it was used by Charles Manson during the trial in an attempt tamper with the jury.
